[karteria] info

Lord Felwinter
Warlord • Warlock • Warmind
ALIAS:
Son of the Tyrant
Dark Horse of Iron
The Raven
The Liar
SIDDHARTHA GOLEM
RACE:
Exo (a humanoid robot), AI (secretly)
AGE:
several centuries
GENDER:
male
CANON:
Destiny
SOUL TYPE:
Aves (raven)
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT. 6' (183cm) approx.
BUILD. Athletic, lean, fantastic ass.
SKIN. Solid black, plasteel plating and synthetic muscle.
EYES. Red-orange, glowing.
NOTABLE FEATURES. Mouth lights up red-orange when speaking. Small LEDs of the same colour dotted here and there on his body.

DEMEANOR. Direct and assertive but not aggressive. Unemotional, easily mistaken for being cold and distant. Sometimes very intense, especially when angry or under pressure. Intellectual, observant, inquisitive. Occasionally seems pensive or preoccupied. Can be awkward and almost clumsy when dealing with emotional people or situations. Terrible, dry sense of humour. Deep-rooted paranoia means he's always on guard against potential threats, though he's generally good at hiding it. Evasive and dishonest when faced with certain personal questions.

VOICE. Speaks in a clear, level manner which tends towards monotone. Usually comes across as hollow and emotionless. Notable Russian accent and a slight robotic reverb / flanging effect to voice. Video reference.

SCENT. Leather, fur, metal, gun oil, ozone, old books.
NATURAL SOUL
Corrupted.
Sharp, curved talons on fingers and toes. Feathers (also metal), particularly visible as long flight feathers on his forearms. Smaller feathers across the back of his shoulders, tapering somewhat down his spine. Wedge-shaped tail. Digitigrade, bird-like feet.

Note: corruption is still in progress, but (for now) this is the approximate end result. There may be more effects added later.
Half Shift.
Best described as an anthropomorphic raven.

Solid black raven skull head with hollow eyes. His optics are visible as points of light within the orbital cavities. Arms appear significantly more wing-like, though retain two fingers and a thumb which enable him to grasp and manipulate objects as normal. Smaller feathers cover most of his body. Anisodactyl feet (three toes pointing forwards and one backwards) which also bear curved talons. Wedge-shaped tail.

Still humanoid in stature and posture. Though his balance is slightly awkward, he can for the most part walk like a human. Can achieve somewhat limited periods of flight with the help of his Light.
Full Shift.
Essentially a very large (approaching 8') metal raven with somewhat uncanny proportions.

As in half-shift, raven skull head with optics visible within the orbital cavities. Feathers starting at the back of the skull and covering the rest of his body. Flight feathers in particular are sharp, somewhat like swords. Wings retain (mostly vestigal) thumbs. Anisodactyl feet, with curved talons. Large wedge-shaped tail.

Stature is significantly more bird-like, however being made primarily of metal affects balance. Tends to carry himself oddly hunched, and often finds it easier brace himself on the "knuckles" of his wings. Can fly freely with the aid of his Light to counter the additional weight. As the use of his Light is a conscious thing, he will typically be unable to achieve flight while feral.
MENTAL CHANGES
‣ Impulsive, in contrast to his normally strong sense of self-control. More inclined to act when he would usually hold back, more inclined to pursue and claim items (or people) when he would usually show restraint.

‣ Profoundly restless, and easily agitated when feeling cramped or confined. Strong need to wander. Sometimes wandering the city is enough, but he would much rather be outside of it, in the wilds.

‣ A habit of preening, though this more often results in preening others, particularly those he is close to. Tends to reach out and touch more often, for example to staighten hair or clothes.

‣ A deep appreciation for pretty people. Don't mind him staring, he is not at all shy about it.

‣ Drawn to trinkets and shiny things. Has developed a tendency to hoard such items. Gifting him a trinket is an easy way to earn his affection.

‣ Despite insisting he does not require food, is developing an increasing desire to eat.

ABILITIES & POWERS
‣ Enhanced sight and hearing.

‣ Can infuse his voice with a hypnotic influence capable of controlling others and manipulating their emotional states for a short time.

‣ Ability to control the wind. Capable of creating localized storm conditions when shifted.

‣ Capable of seeing souls, including any corrupting influences upon them.
CORRUPTION TIMELINE
APRIL 2025
Shifted during the combat trials in Patho-Gen HQ, while facing Gojo, and once or twice more during their overnight expeditions out of the City, to aid with scouting.

Minimal corruption. Small, sharp talons just starting to come in on his fingers.
MAY 2025
One unintentional feral shift during nightmare incident, in the city. Frequent shifts for scouting and ease of traversal during extended expeditions into the Asphodel Fields to the south of the city.

Talons are growing longer and curved, and also starting to come in on his toes. Strange, ridged texture developing on forearms and back of shoulders.

STATUS
HOUSING
Moved in early June 2025 to a modest three bedroom detached house in Sophia, reasonably close to the library. Although he was living with Gojo and Choso, they have since both disappeared, and he is rarely if ever at home.

Felwinter's room is small and fairly Spartan, though it contains a slowly growing collection of books and a few trinkets with sentimental value.

More details here.

OVERVIEW
Temporarily dumping my OOC intro here until I have chance to write up something proper.

Felwinter is an Exo (that is, a humanoid robot) who has the unusual distinction of being the only Exo who was never originally human. He was a program created by an extremely advanced, powerful, and sliiightly crazy military AI known as a Warmind, for the purpose of satisfying his thirst for knowledge by living amongst humanity and learning first-hand about their culture, behaviour, and so on and so forth. He was destroyed during an apocalyptic event known as the "Collapse" and then later resurrected (with no memory of his original life) by a tiny eyeball drone sent by an enormous paracausal cue ball, so now he has superpowers. Destiny is weird.

Anyway, the Warmind was super mad about his "son" being stolen from him and so has been trying to kill him literally from the moment he was resurrected... as you do. Fel spent his entire life running from things sent to murder him, accidentally became a Warlord, then quit being a Warlord to join a group known as the Iron Lords who wanted to change the world so that nobody had to live in fear any more. And then his AI father set a trap for him and killed him and nearly all of the Iron Lords because he's a huge jerk.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
HEIGHT: 6' (183cm) approx.
BUILD: Athletic/lean but sculpted (a standard Exo frame).
SKIN: Solid black, plasteel plating and synthetic muscle.
EYES: Orange-red, glowing.
NOTABLE FEATURES: Mouth lights up orange-red when speaking.
REFERENCE: Partial nude body reference here.

VOICE: Speaks in a clear, level manner which tends towards monotone. Usually comes across as hollow and emotionless. Slight robotic reverb / flanging effect to voice. Accent is vaguely Russian / Slavic.

DEMEANOR: Direct and assertive but not aggressive. Evasive and dishonest when faced with personal questions.

SCENT: Leather and fur, metal, gun oil, ozone, old books.

PERSONALITY
Impassive: Felwinter has the unusual distinction of being the only Exo who started life as an artificial intelligence. Unlike other Exos, who were originally human, Fel was a program created and uploaded by an powerful and complex military AI known as a Warmind, with the purpose of infiltrating humanity to learn of their behaviour and culture. Although emancipated by his death during the Collapse and his subsequent revival by his Ghost in the early Dark Age, Fel began his life without the basic social framework of a human. This means, among other issues, that he tends to have difficulty with understanding, reading, or expressing emotions. That’s not to say that he’s emotionless; far from it, in fact. But to those who don’t know better, his detached manner of speech and lack of facial expression or body language may certainly make him appear to be, and he often comes across as cold or standoffish. Before he learned the truth of his origin, this caused Fel a good deal of unease, and he thought himself broken. As he spent more time around others, he slowly began to pick up small mannerisms and social cues... but he still has a long way to go.

Paranoid: Felwinter's Warmind creator, enraged that his "son" had been stolen from him, pursued him relentlessly from the moment he was reborn, dropping warsats on him from orbit and sending troops of combat frames to kill him. Felwinter has spent the entirety of his long life running, much of that with no understanding of why any of this was happening to him. And this was the Dark Age, a time of ruthless Warlords fighting endlessly among themselves. In an effort to find a place where he would be safe, Felwinter killed a Warlord, took over his territory on a lonely mountain peak and unwittingly became a Warlord himself. Fel has always isolated himself from others in order to protect himself, even after joining with the Iron Lords, and especially after learning the truth of his origin. Paranoia drove him to keep the knowledge secret out of a sense of self-preservation, and he has in the past shown willingness to kill his closest allies out of fear of them stumbling on the truth.

Compassionate: Felwinter's initially solitary nature was tested by those he met. He found himself relating to and empathising with the Ghostless (a polite way of saying "mortals"), who lived in fear every day. For them, life was a perpetual struggle to survive, and the Warlords abused their power terribly, demanding tribute in exchange for protection, if they cared to offer protection at all. The Ghostless suffered as collateral in the endless fighting between Warlords, and Felwinter decided that he would see an end to it. The vision of the Iron Lords was the first step towards that end. Over time, his original selfish motives gave way to a love of his people and an unwillingness to abandon them, despite the opportunity to do so. And his fear of the connection between himself and the AI which created him gave way to the belief that he could use the connection for good, and convince the Warmind to help them. This, unfortunately, was what would lead to his death.

Pragmatic: Although he joined the Iron Lords and swore their oath, Felwinter found himself frustrated at times by their nature, at once inflexible and scattered. They were a ragtag group made up mostly of ex-Warlords, banded together in pursuit of a rather nebulous ideal, and the Iron Decree was what held them together. The Decree forbade the killing of Ghostless and of Ghosts, but there were many Warlords, and even one particular Iron Lord, who were murderers, thieves, Ghost-killers, and worse. With a strong sense of justice, and a willingness to do what needed to be done, Felwinter took it upon himself to seek these individuals out and put an end to them for good. He always provided proof of their wrongdoing, but never asked permission beforehand, knowing that the Iron Lords would not act quickly or decisively enough. His ruthlessness caused tension between himself and Lord Radegast, the leader of the Iron Lords, who was not a hateful man by nature but was said to hate Felwinter's guts. Felwinter is as a rule unconcerned by this, fully accepting the consequences for doing what he believes is necessary for the greater good.

Stubborn: Titans are known for their bullheadedness, and there are none more immovable than the infamous Warlord Shaxx. Knowing his strength and the respect he commanded from the other Warlords was invaluable to the Iron Lord’s cause, Felwinter set out to convince him to join them. Shaxx refused, but Fel would not give up. He challenged him to a duel, which he lost instantly when Shaxx quite literally took his head off his shoulders with a single blow, but would not give up. He stayed with Shaxx in his keep, and challenged him again, every day for weeks. He lost every time, but his dogged determination, compassion for Shaxx’s people, and absolute belief in the possibility of building a better world eventually won the Warlord over. There are few, if any, who can claim to have managed the same.

RELATIONSHIPS
Felspring: Every Risen's primary relationship is with their Ghost. She's a smart little thing who has been with him since the day she found and resurrected him, and is the singular being he trusts with everything he is. She offers advice, sasses him when he's being stupid, and sometimes speaks for him when he has trouble finding the right words. She's also, at least in part, responsible for his paranoia; when they discovered that he was an AI construct created by he Warmind Rasputin, she desperately urged him to keep it a secret as she feared what would happen to him should anyone else discover the truth.

Aarthi: A woman from the village at the foot of the mountain which Felwinter claimed from the Warlord Castor, Aarthi came to him to offer tribute and request his protection in exchange. He refused her, but she returned the next month, and the month after that... Eventually they started talking more during her regular visits, and she told him about her village and how her people suffered at the hands of roaming Warlords and raiders. Her compassion for her people and her courage in the face of her comparatively short, mortal life affected Felwinter deeply and put his own cowardice in perspective. She inspired him to step up, not only to protect the people who lived in his territory, but also to search for a way to improve their lives and the lives of all of humanity, which eventually led to him joining the Iron Lords.

The Iron Lords: Fel's opinions on the Iron Lords vary greatly, and he has never cared to keep those opinions to himself. He finds them scattered, indecisive, inflexible. They have strange habits and obsessions. Some care little for his privacy and others care little for his personality. Despite this, and despite their disagreements, they are his friends and comrades. While he may be frustrated by their unwillingness to do what he deems necessary, and they may find his Oathbreaking and violent pragmatism distasteful, he is willing to do whatever it takes to see their mission succeed. They plan on changing the world, and while Felwinter does not know if they will change it for the better, the fact that they are willing to try at all means a great deal to him. He was perhaps closest (by some definition of the word) with Lord Timur, a fellow Warlock with a passion bordering on obsession for Golden Age technology, especially BrayTech creations such as Exos. He has also mentioned being taught how to fight like a Titan by Lady Jolder, and has himself mentored others, his most noteable apprentice being the famous Warlock Osiris who went on to become the first Warlock Vanguard.

Rasputin: An incredibly complex and powerful AI designed to protect human civilisation from potential threats and control interplanetary defence systems to that end. During the Golden Age, Rasputin secretly created an AI construct designated SIDDHARTHA GOLEM, and uploaded it into a vacant Exomind platform. Its purpose was to satisfy his thirst for knowledge by living amongst humanity and learning more about them; their behaviour, culture, language, literature, and so on and so forth. This construct was destroyed during the Collapse and later resurrected by a Ghost, becoming the being known as Felwinter, though remembering nothing of his former life. Rasputin, detecting that this asset had gone rogue and was outside of his control, instead chose to eliminate it. From the moment Felwinter was first risen, he has been forced to flee from warsats being dropped on him from orbit, and platoons of combat frames sent to ambush him at every turn... and for the longest time, he had no idea why. The constant fear and trauma left him severely paranoid and isolated from other Risen, and he spent much of his early life desperately searching for a place where he could be safe. Much later on, after he had joined the Iron Lords and learned the truth, Felwinter came to believe he could use his connection to the Warmind to convince him to help them. Rasputin, ever unstable and controlling, and still terribly angry that his "son" had been stolen from him, set a trap using the promise of Golden Age tech which could vastly improve the lives of the remainder of humanity. This unfortunately led to the deaths of almost all of the Iron Lords... and this time, Felwinter did not run.
