Sometimes people lose control and it's different. There's no coming back from it. Patho-Gen knows — they're monitoring us, whether through the augmenters or by other means — and they come and take those people away.
Bear in mind I've only heard this second-hand, so I can't be certain of the truth of it. But I do trust the source.
What happens after that, I don't know. They're contained, I assume, somewhere in the Patho-Gen building. Though if we consider the recent incident with the tree creature, their containment methods are not entirely effective.
